ΣΥΝΤΟΜΗ ΠΕΡΙΛΗΨΗ
The shear banding flow instability is manifested by the ??demixing?? of the flowing system in regions of high and low shear rates connected by ??interfaces?? of sharp change. In this paper we determine the range of operational and material variables of its occurrence. For the case of flow through a cylindrical pipe driven by a pressure gradient, we derive the velocity profile in the two banded regions (core and outer annular), the overall throughput, and the approximate location of the shear rate discontinuity
